Joakim Lund has been exploring the different forms of digital printmaking. He finds his inspiration from all eras of time, with his recent work being heavily influenced by the 1920′s and 1930′s Art Deco movement. Joakim latest digital creations have put him at the forefront of the art form, with the use of his subtle and timeless kaleidoscopic imagery. His work may feel distant, but still holds onto a quality of closeness and intensity.

Joakim believes that the printmaker can now choose to be dependant on the computer and encompass the power of our generation’s software revolutions, which has produced software packages such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Throughout the world the digital printer has become the tool of choice and necessity for visual artists to produce / reproduce their work. This opens the question about the use of modern digital printmaking “Who is the printmaker?” or even: “Who is the Artist?”

During the digital process Joakim has discovered, as an artist, that he can use the technology to refine his art. He is able to fail more, and can just press the “undo” button to change it – which makes the possibilities endless.  Joakim feels that printers are now so advanced that they can help to give us beautiful pieces of art. His tool of choice has become the Epson printer which supposedly gives his work a one hundred year warranty. Even though his work is modern it still needs to be treated with care, and not displayed in direct sunlight as it will reduce the colour quality like any other one hundred year old master piece.
